Avalon puppies come from a long line of health tested dogs.
So i feel as much as possible is done to protect the puppies & give them the best healthy & loving start i can.
Avalon Australian Labradoodles want to breed Healthy Happy dogs that live fullfilled lives with a loving family.
Australian Labradoodles are normally a pretty healthy breed, but new owners need to apply the same care in raising a Australian Labradoodle puppy as with any other breed.
Wrong inviramental raising of any puppy whatever breed can encourage skeleton problems to develop, so common sense needs to be applied to avoid this happening.
They have had the very best start at Avalon so it is up to any new owner to continue that care, good quality food, use common sense & remember they are puppy babies, they have soft bones that need to develop & grow at a gentle slow & steady pace.
Feeding
I use a high quality puppy food Manufactured in the Usa, who by Law have to make animal food from human grade meat & ingredients, unlike the uk, i give the same food to the mother throughout her pregnancy.
The Highest ingredient should allways be meat,my food also contains fruiet vegetables carefully selected herbs added vitamins & minerals that a growing puppy needs, the one i use is grain free.
My dog food contains a high content of human grade meat by law,it is manufactered in Usa where the rules & standard for dog food is a lot higher than a lot of even the most expensive dog food in the Uk.
You could ask a hundred different dog owners what dog food they prefer & im sure you would get as many different answers
some people & vets advise the raw recipes, but a lot more other vets say it is very bad because it is alive with e coli.
A raw diet is not something i would feed for many reasons, but it is personal choice & up to every dog owner to decide.
I find useing a high quality food i dont need to use as much.
My Australian Labradoodles have all grown & developed at a good steady pace, not fat or thin just right, they are bright have plenty of energy shiny coats & thier stools are allways firm.
So for me my food works well & I am happy with the results. That is what everyone should aim for.
Grooming
Australian Labradoodles have many wonderfull attributes, they have a fleece coat ,so no dog hairs on everything you touch, they dont smell at all doggy & they are allergy friendly.
But they do need brushing a couple of times a week to keep thier coats in good order,it is a good bonding experience for you & your dog,set time aside & make it enjoyable.
You will need to brush through with a slicker brush first making sure you are getting right down to the roots, then go through with a metal comb so that it runs freely.
Australian labradoodles will need to go to a groomer for a trim on a regular basis,I trim my dogs myself & you can have a go at trimming them yourself too,it is not that hard,Ive seen a lot of sad scalped dogs coming out of dog groomers,.you can buy dog grooming equipment online. If you do find a good dog groomer, cherish them.
There are plenty of You tube videos showing how to trim Australian Labradoodles correctly.
I can guide you on the brushes & equipment you will need,so you dont waste money on so called miracle brushes ect, that are not worth buying. You can learn by my exspensive purchases that sit in the cupboard & are never used..
If you do decide to go to a groomer please go on word of mouth recommendations, someone who is good with puppies & has patience,if your dog has a bad experience it will cause problems for ever after.
Make sure they have experience cutting Australian Labradoodles, they are trimmed differently.
If you google you will find photos of the correct way to trim a Australian Labradoodle..
Sadly there are many stories of dogs having very upsetting experiences & worst in groomers,& you dont want your lovly dog to be terrified or come out looking scalped.
